Free Pumpkin Patch!

Bartels Land and Livestock Inc. Corn Maze/Pumpkin Patch

We went to this pumpkin patch last year with the kids and had a blast! There is no admission, you just pay for any pumpkins (or other fall veggies) that you buy. You can pick from the fields yourself (a blast) or pick out from the many they have decorating the grounds.

The hayrides were $1 and were really fun! There is a petting zoo and mini-maze for the kids. There is also a real corn maze and they have group rates available (for the maze).

We spent a long afternoon there picking pumpkins, going on the hayride, petting all the animal, and having lots of fun for a cheep $7 (including the 3 pumpkins we bought)!

Children's Village

The Paul Smith Children's Village...

IS AMAZING!

We went to the grand opening of the Children's Village today. It was great! There are so many things to do/play with/experience. There are gardens for the children to water, bridges to cross, sandboxes, tee-pees (with drums!), a sheep wagon, and even a secret garden. There was so much to see!

Seriously, we are planning on going as often as possible until the snow comes. It is a fun and cheep way to keep those kids happy!

The Paul Smith Children’s Village will be larger than many big city children’s gardens. It boasts of a world-class design by the legendary and nationally recognized landscape architect, Herb Schaal of the firm EDAW, along with assistance from partner Mark Kosmos.

The three-quarter acre site is filled with numerous specialty, interactive landscapes including a natural wetlands, gravity powered water works, farmers windmill, solar pumps, sculptures, world vegetable garden, prairie plantings, a “Secret Garden,” art/crafts plazas, historic sheep wagon, tipi village, picnic orchard, puppet theater and more.

The design and construction of the Children’s Village was funded entirely through the non-profit foundation raising approximately $2 million from donors and businesses.
